Julie grew up in Eugene and graduated from Marist High School. She then went to U of O and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology and an Associate’s degree in Social Sciences. She has completed over 2000 continuing education hours and is Master Trainer, this means she is someone who educates other preschool teachers and child care providers on how to best work with children in their own homes and schools. Julie participates with Oregon Spark and has a QRIS 5-Star Rating; she also holds a BAB: Building a Business Certificate and has her Director credentials.
Julie opened The Toy Box Preschool and Childcare in 1991 after completing her studies at the University of Oregon. What attracted Julie the most to becoming a teacher was the ability to continue her education and not only influence and teach the children but also learn from them. Julie was raised in a community with many types of disabilities which has taught her patience, compassion, acceptance and joy.
Her goal is to give every child that comes through her program a good start and the confidence in themselves to be unique. The intention of her work is for each child to know themselves and to be proud of who they are. Julie truly loves her line of work. This is evident in the way she operates with both children and their parents.
